Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry
Redesigned Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry
Removed technical logon barriers by automatic enrollment for eligible Veterans and Servicemembers
Elimination of the prerequisite online questionnaire.
Eligibility expanded for Veterans and Servicemembers to include deployments to: Somalia (since August 2, 1990),
or Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen (from September 11, 2001 to August 31, 2021).
In lieu of the traditional Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry evaluation, Veterans enrolled in
VA health care can ask about the toxic exposure screening at their next VA appointment. To learn more, Click here.
The screening identifies and documents potential exposure concerns. Select here to receive information
about benefits and clinical resources to address any concerns.
If you are an active-duty service member, visit the military health website for information on the new registry.

Survivor Benefits and Reporting a Veteran Death
Losing a loved one is a challenging time — we are here to help. As the survivor of a Veteran or Service member, check
to see if you qualify for survivor benefits, including help with burial costs and survivor compensation.
Please contact VA to report the Veteran’s death and avoid an overpayment of the Veteran’s benefits.
You can report the death in person at a VA Regional Office, by mail, or by phone.
When you do this, VA will stop any benefit payments the Veteran received as required by law. Reporting the death timely
will help  ensure survivors or executors of the Veteran’s estate do not experience additional financial stress.

Veterans Specially Equipped Vehicle
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may pay up to $26,417 towards the purchase of a specially equipped
vehicle for veterans with service-connected disabilities that prevent them from driving. However, this amount
does not include shipping costs for the vehicle—which can be expensive if the veteran lives in a rural
or remote area or on an island far away from the mainland.
A veteran should not be burdened with having to pay an additional cost to have their specially adapted
vehicle shipped to them and legislation has been introduced to resolve the issue. S.4372, the
Deliver for Veterans Act (Oct 2024) would include the shipping cost to deliver a vehicle to a service-disabled
veteran that is entitled to the VA Adaptive Vehicle Grant.
